16 Jan Martin Luther King Jr. Day
On January 15th, 2021, the Afterschool Program at the NFL YET Center hosted a day to honor the Civil Rights hero Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There were 35 children in attendance, and each one sat in excitement as they learned about Dr. King’s work through a series of games, contests, and presentations. The energy in the room was contagious, moving from one child to the next. They were eager to participate in the contests, and the winners were awarded prizes. As a pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. King gave his life to fight for social and racial equality. After the program, the staff watched the children exit and were filled with joy in knowing that Dr. King’s many lessons were instilled in their hearts.
